Finding the Why in Street Photography

February 4, 2019

I'm back to blogging.

I was thinking about why I do street photography and what motivates me to do it. Somedays I get down on myself about not shooting enough, not getting into photo shows, or not standing out in my art. So I asked myself, why do I do it? So much of the street photography I see today is lacking in a clear motivation and even in my own work, I wish I could tap into some deeper themes or messages.

Street photography mostly connects me with the world. Being able to leave my house and closely observe the world makes me more aware and present. In 2019, I hope to follow that feeling more than the feeling of the final product. The journey is the destination.
